The sun has started to shine in Manchester, a very rare occasion I can tell you. I’ve recently moved into the city centre and have noticed that it really is a changed place when it gets sunny – everything looks cleaner and brighter and people are so much smilier.
The start of summer has prompted me to want to get outdoors and go exploring round Manchester, and I figured there’s no better way to do this than with a picnic! As you are probably aware by now I love tiny foods...I am a buffet fiend. Picnics therefore are my idea of snacky heaven.
I live by the canal and there’s a lots of nice grassy areas to go and sit out on a sunny Sunday. Last weekend I packed up my basket and went for a stroll with a few friends who’ve lived in the area a while and know the best haunts away from the manic city shoppers. It was great! I made little wraps out of corn fajitas and had mini sausages and pineapple and cheese on sticks – all very classy. We rounded it all off with my favourite indulgence, Trufree brownie bites and my new found homemade chewy flapjack recipe.
Sunny picnics are my new favourite thing. A trip to the Peaks is next in store - let’s just hope the weather holds out!
